Megan and Michael envisioned a modern, elegant wedding with a touch of romance held at one of Dallas’ most iconic venues and their Nasher Sculpture Center wedding fit just that! As a wedding photographer, it’s always exciting when couples you’d love to work with find you. And Megan and Michael’s fun and goofy personalities were the perfect blend for an absolutely one-of-a-kind wedding!
The Nasher Sculpture Center located in downtown Dallas, Texas is one of the most contemporary and elegant venues in the city. It was the perfect backdrop for Megan and Michael’s modern wedding. The funky elegance of modern art fit their personalities and love seamlessly.
Megan and Michael arrived early to their Nasher Sculpture Center wedding for their first look and bridal party photos. I absolutely adored working with this couple and the very fact that they went right into dancing with one another after their first look is one of the many reasons why!
Their ceremony at Nasher Sculpture Center was held outside in the garden courtyard. Exchanging their vows in front of the beautiful, modern sculpture titled ‘Square with Two Circles (Monolith)’ by Barbara Hepworth. The ceremony performed by one of their close friends who did such an amazing job!
Following the ceremony, their cocktail hour was filled with music and delicious hors d’oeuvres, surrounded by more of Nasher’s stunning sculptures.
The modern elegance of the venue set the tone for their wedding as well. Besides, it was only fitting that Megan and Michael chose chic, understated attire that suited the venue’s modern aesthetic. Megan looked absolutely stunning in a sleek, white gown and carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. Michael wore a classic black tuxedo with black bowtie. Moreover, their timeless outfits made them stand out in their exquisite venue.
To start the reception the first dance was just as beautiful as the setting itself. A choreographed dance that Megan and Michael worked their hearts out on after taking dance lessons for weeks! What’s more, their elegant movement graced the dance floor with the perfect backdrop.
As the sun set behind the city, the night continued on with an incredible dinner, plenty of dancing and some of the most heartfelt speeches I’ve ever experienced. Megan’s man-of-honor’s speech was so good I feel the need to share an excerpt here:
“So I’ve been thinking a lot about stir fry recently, and how it relates to relationships that we create with those in our lives. Each relationship is unique, and contains different elements and flavors that make it special. But what makes a stir fry a fun dish to create is when you bring in elements of playfulness. There is a reason people pay money to sit at a hibachi grill and watch the chef play with their food. It’s fun to see people’s best efforts to catch an airborne shrimp in their mouth or watch an onion volcano erupt in flames. We love it because it transforms a regular stir fry into a playful experience.
“Megan and Mike are like the stir fry at a hibachi grill…because they have created a partnership with all of the required ingredients and they’ve seasoned it with fun and playfulness. Whether it’s hanging by the pool, exploring new cities, or simply watching Dancing with the Stars, they navigate life together while sharing a laugh…or three…along the way.
“[…] I am so happy that you’ve found a person that truly brings out the best in you. So here’s to Megan and Mike. Here’s to love and playfulness. And here’s to a lifetime of erupting volcanoes and airborne shrimp in your stir fry.”
Continuing the party, the evening was filled with conversation, dancing and, equally important, a lot of fun and laughter. All coming to an absolutely fabulous end with Michael seranading Megan in front of all their guests!
Megan and Michael’s wedding day at the Nasher Sculpture Center was nothing short of magnificent. They represented themselves as a couple. Everything from their exquisite details to their setting reflected who they are. Seeing how happy they are made me appreciate my work as a wedding photographer even more. It’s always bittersweet completing a wedding and saying goodbye to any of my incredible couples.
I also can’t say enough about the amazing venue that the Nasher Sculpture Center is. It’s a perfect choice for couples that want to incorporate their artistic style and passion into their special day. The ambiance is to die for, and it’s a personal favorite for me as a Dallas wedding photographer. I’m so grateful to have been chosen as their wedding photographer and to have captured the beauty and love of their big day.
Special thanks to all who partnered with us for Megan and Michael’s wedding day!
