My personal favorite private proposal spot in Dallas is right in the Dallas Arboretum’s meadow. As a wedding photographer, I have been so fortunate to capture some of the most beautiful moments in couple’s love stories. Each proposal is unique and special, and I love being a part of that process.

When Jake reached out, he told me he felt inspired by one of my previous blogs on Dallas Arboretum proposals! And I was so excited to be a part of this experience for him and Kaleigh!

Planning a Private Proposal in Dallas

Jake and I worked together to plan the perfect location for him to pop the question. We landed on the perfect spot during our walkthrough a month before proposal day!

As a photographer, I highly recommend doing a walkthrough for your proposal if you get the chance. Especially because we unexpectedly found a Harriet Tubman statue right on our original planned spot!

The week before Jake’s proposal was filled with rain and storms, including the Sunday he was planning to propose! Thankfully, we saw a gap in the rain and were able to change our reservations last minute to avoid the storm.

Proposal Day!

On the day of the proposal, Jake’s family and friends helped stand guard to help keep the moment perfectly private. The meadow only has a few entrances so it’s the perfect private spot. Jake coordinated with Kaleigh’s friends to have them bring her out for a fun and fancy girls day out and deliver her right to Jake!

While some of her friends weren’t so subtle, the incoming storms threw Kaleigh off just enough to still be surprised when she turned the corner and saw him. The moment they locked eyes, she immediately lit up and started smiling. Such a sweet moment!

With a letter he had written expressing his love to her, Jake finally got down on one knee and asked Kaleigh to marry him. A cheer erupted from the family and friends who were all hiding away behind some bushes. And, of course, there were lots of celebratory hugs to go around.

Portraits in the Arboretum

One of my favorite things to do with my proposal couples is to steal them away for some newly engaged photos! We spent the rest of our time exploring the Arboretum. With a few sprinkles of rain, the incoming rain brought out the most beautiful colors.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as we headed out and reached our cars just in time for the downpour to start. As the hail pelted my car, I couldn’t help but chuckle about perfect timing and how the incoming storm gave us the perfect private proposal spot in Dallas!
